ArithmeKit – this offers a range of 120 problem solving and reasoning activities to strengthen and deepen understanding of key number and calculation skills and strategies. ArithmeKits 1 – 6, one for each year group in the primary school.
The 24 skills and strategies, (from the Arithmecycles) essential elements of any successful mathematician’s toolkit, have been carefully selected to develop pupils’ conceptual understanding. By exploring the structure of mathematics and noticing relationships, the activities aim to improve fluency in calculation, develop a secure and deep understanding, help pupils make connections and address the requirements of the end of Key Stage 1 and 2 Arithmetic national assessments.
We are really excited to announce that many activities from ArithmeKits 4, 5 and 6 have been repackaged for secondary school use – Secondary On Your Marks, Get Ready, and Go are out now.
ArithmeDo – this package of resources comprises of:
- ArithmePractice: 48 sheets of practice, 2 for each of the 24 learning statements. Secure the skills and strategies, helping to develop fluency and independence.
- ArithmeCheck: 3 tests based on all 24 learning statements, use one at the start of the year, (Check in) one at a point during the year, (Check up) and one at the end of the year, (Check out). The format of theses Checks gives children practice and experience of a test format. They could also be done in sections, linking to each of the segments on the ArithmeCycle posters.
- ArithmeCycle – colourful posters providing a focus for the maths display, raising the profile of arithmetic.
