“By building the tables as described it really helped the children to make connections for themselves. The impact is that they definitely know them better, and they are not just chanting without understanding.”

Year 4 teacher from a Swindon school

Three copiable books of support for teachers to build, chant, investigate and practice multiplication tables. Books include games and cards to develop fluency.

Each book gives guidance on how to build the multiplication table, using doubling and halving, as well as repeated addition and combining multiples.

Noticing patterns and relationships is a key part of learning multiplication tables. The books suggest relationships and ways to investigate one of them for each multiplication table.

There are three simple card games provided to help practise and embed the multiplication table, and some mixed word problems at the end of each book.

**Learn Those Tables Key Stage 1 includes 2, 5 and 10 times tables.**

**Learn Those Tables Key Stage 2 (part 1) includes 3, 4, 6 and 8 times tables.**

“One of my less confident children used the doubling strategy to calculate 32 x 4 – this was as a result of building the tables on a line – they made the connection.” Y5 teacher, Swindon school.
