EYFS Unit 15 Equal Groups

This unit has 3 manageable steps for exploring equal groups, there are also some photocopiable images to use for your own equal group problems.

The Manageable steps are designed to explore equal grouping problems, notiicing relationships and using represntations. They will support your planning to help the children really secure a deep understanding of equal groups.

For each manageable step there is a suggested 'what it is' and often a sentence you and the children may want to say to engage with the learning.

There is a 'what it is not' where Colin the CanDo Caribou or Coco the CanDo Cockatoo have a misconception for you to address. This is also available as a short video. (Videos will be available two weeks before the unit is due to be taught.)

The unit is based on the theme 'Sea and Seaside' and uses the book Lucy and Tom at the Seaside by Shirley Hughes as a possible stimulus for contious provision activities, but obviously the suggestions can be altered to fit your theme.
